Veterans Support Rally Draws Hundreds
HOUSTON, TX - Congressional candidate and combat veteran Nick Tran held a Veterans Support Rally yesterday that drew hundreds of supporters to hear his plan for reforming the VA and improving services for America's heroes.
"Our veterans risked everything to protect our freedom, and they deserve the very best care and support when they return home," Tran told the crowd, many of whom were veterans themselves. "Unfortunately, the bureaucracy at the VA has failed too many of our brothers and sisters in arms."
Having served 13 years in the Army and fought in three separate wars, Tran spoke from personal experience about the challenges veterans face when transitioning to civilian life.
"I know firsthand the difficulties of navigating the VA system and the frustration of dealing with endless red tape," he said. "We need comprehensive reform to ensure our veterans receive timely, quality care and the benefits they've earned."
Tran's veterans plan includes:
- Streamlining the VA healthcare system to reduce wait times
- Expanding mental health services, especially for PTSD and suicide prevention
- Supporting the Richard Star Act to ensure combat-wounded veterans receive their full benefits
- Creating tax incentives for businesses that hire veterans
- Improving transition programs for service members entering civilian life
- Addressing veteran homelessness through targeted support programs
The rally featured several veteran speakers who shared their stories and endorsed Tran's candidacy, including retired Army Colonel James Wilson, who said, "Nick isn't just talking about veterans' issues—he's lived them. He'll fight for us because he's one of us."
Tran concluded the event by criticizing the current administration's handling of veterans' affairs: "For a small fraction of what we spend on foreign conflicts, we could provide world-class care for every American veteran. It's about priorities, and our veterans should be at the top of that list."
The campaign announced that Tran will be visiting veterans' organizations across the district in the coming weeks to continue discussing his plan and hearing directly from veterans about their concerns.
